Guillaume Tari, winemaker extraordinaire!

Known as a staple estate in the Bandol appellation, Domaine de La Bégude was founded in 1996 by Guillaume Tari, whose family has been in wine for six generations with Château Giscours in Margaux.

Guillaume’s extensive wine knowledge is shown by his devotion to express the genuine characteristics of the Bandol terroir. He practices the principles of certified organic farming at La Bégude, was the Bandol AOC President for many years, and currently hosts the Conservatoire du cépage Mourvèdre. The Conservatory of the Mourvèdre grape is the world’s largest collection of this varietal and contains 116 types of Mourvèdre.

La Bégude is located at the highest point of the Bandol appellation (1312 feet/ 400 meters). Composed mainly of forests and olive trees, its area of 1,235 acres (500 hectares) has 42 acres (17 hectares) dedicated to the vineyards. The estate overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and benefits from an ideal mix of hot sunny days and cool nights brushed by the Mistral wind.
