Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold arrived from England in 1844, planting the first vines in Southern Australia.
In 1950, then winemaker Max Schubert created Grange, a long-lasting dry red blend inspired by a trip to Bordeaux. The board of directors ordered him to stop, but he continued in secret until making a convincing vintage.
Grange is now a heritage icon of Australia and one of the world’s most sought-after collector wines, with twenty-plus perfect scores from critics worldwide.
