Formerly an orchard, White Walnut Estate had been unattended for several generations when winemaker Chris Mazepink purchased the site in 2013. Well-placed in the heart of Dundee Hills, the vineyard sits between legendary Oregon wineries Domaine Drouhin and Archery Summit.
Mazepink and his sons cleared the land by hand, preserving the remaining walnut trees that continue to produce fruit and are now well over 70 years old. They then planted dozens of selections/clones that Mazepink had collected over two decades. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines are always a field blend, a polyculture of each of these selections/clones.
