By the 18th century, Margaux was already considered one of the finest properties in Bordeaux. The estate’s reputation skyrocketed when, in 1855, it was classified as a Premier Cru Classé (First Growth) in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification. While the estate consists of a majority of red grape varieties, 30 acres of the land are planted with Sauvignon Blanc.
