Château de Bellevue is making quite an impression as Wine & Spirits Year’s Best Burgundy with the Morgon Climat Les Charmes 2014 and a rating of 90 Points!!

Château de Bellevue, one of the Barbet family’s latest acquisitions, is a majestic estate, part of the Villié-Morgon village, in South Burgundy. Over the years, it has been the home of prestigious occupants, such as the Lumière Brothers, inventors of the cinema, and Princess Lieven of Russia. With a total of 22 hectares of Gamay planted in Morgon, Château de Bellevue is one of the major domains of the appellation.

“Claire Forestier made this wine at the grand Château de Bellevue, working with a parcel of 40-year-old vines planted in granite and sandstone. Half of it ages in oak vats and older barrels, the other half in concrete, producing a brisk and sophisticated gamay with a silken texture. The structure is gentle, the finish offering a little funk in the form of barnyard scents and something spicier, like curry and cedar. Accessible now, this will age well over the next few years.” By Wine & Spirits Magazine – Oct. 2017
