NEW WINEMAKER IN ACTION : Meet Tristan Larsen!

After starting a career in business and management, Tristan decided to change directions at the age of 33. Convinced that making wine was the only job in the world for him, he enrolled in professional training classes on viticulture and oenology in Beaune. His first vinification experience was, working as an intern at Château de Bellevue for the 2011 vintage. From there, Tristan decided to gain more experience by working at different estates in Burgundy and in New Zealand before returning to become the Cellar Master of Château de Bellevue.

Tristan wants to reveal the subtlety of Gamay Noir through his winemaking techniques.

“Each year is different, you need to adapt your techniques according the history of the vintage” – Tristan Larsen

The roots
There is only Gamay Noir across all 37 acres (15 hectares) of Château de Bellevue’s vineyards. The multifaceted granitic soil brings different ornate characteristics to each Climat, thus creating elegant wines with Le Clos, as the crown jewel. The estate practices friendly growing approaches to achieve the healthiest clusters possible to be harvested at their perfect maturity.
