At the 2017 Decanter World Wine Awards, the Quinta do Pessegueiro Douro 2014 won the Platinum Award for the Best Douro Red category with a rating of 95 Points!! It was tasted against the following Douro 2014 wines from Adão António Aguiar Reserva, Casa Ferreirinha Callabriga, Jorge Rosas Quinta da Touriga-Chã, and the Quinta do Portal Grande Reserva.

Quinta do Pessegueiro was purchased by French national Roger Zannier in 1991. After falling in love with the Douro region, the estate, and the local area, he decided to plant vines there. João Nicolau de Almeida, who hails from a local family steeped in winemaking tradition, is the estate’s head winemaker.

An interesting, rich nose full of blackcurrant, blackberry jam, red berries, wet stones, and flowers. High concentration of dark fruits on the palate with a floral hint. Bold tannins too, but these also help to retain the wine’s freshness.
