At the foothills of the Montagne Noire, in one of the finest terroirs of the Languedoc region, the 370-acre (150-ha) Domaine de L’Ostal produces wines that infer the rich, powerful and noble soil of the local region.

Jean-Michel Cazes, the owner of Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, purchase the domaine in 2002 after spending many years scouring the Languedoc region. He finally selected La Livinière, the birthplace of the finest vineyards in the Minervois and combined two neighboring estates to create a single winery, including 60 ha of vineyards and 25 ha of olive groves. With the help of his son Jean-Charles, they chose a name filled with meaning and history: ”l’ostal”, meaning both ”house” and ”family group” in the ancient Occitan language.
