La Fagotière’s 42 acres in the northern end of Châteauneuf handled the temperature swings of 2011 well, turning out one of the most graceful Châteauneufs in our tastings for this issue. It shows its ripeness not in sweetness but in meaty depth, the wine almost bloody in its mineral tang. At the same time, it’s fragrant and lifted, notes of violets, spice and herbs giving it a cool, foresty feel, the acidity holding the wine to a lean, long line. 92 points by Wine & Spirits.
